2nd convoy of voluntary return departs from Tabqa to Syrian interior

As part of the efforts of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their areas of origin, and in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the second batch of displaced persons left al-Mahmoudli camp in Tabqa province on Tuesday, heading towards Homs, Hama, Aleppo, and Deir ez-Zor.

The second convoy included 15 families, comprising 55 individuals, from the rural areas of Homs, Hama, Aleppo, and Deir ez-Zor. It departed via 14 trucks, six vans, and a bus.

The first convoy departed on August 26 and included 10 families from the rural areas of Deir ez-Zor, Homs, and Hama.

This campaign is part of the joint efforts between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which aims at ensuring the voluntary and safe return of displaced persons to their cities and villages.

According to the camp administration, it continues to register the names of families wishing to voluntarily return to their cities, towns, and villages to prepare for subsequent convoys. This is part of efforts to facilitate the safe return of displaced persons. In addition, the number of families registered so far has reached approximately 50.

Al-Mahmoudli Camp is located north of the city of Tabqa and is inhabited by displaced persons from the countryside of Homs, Hama, Aleppo, and Deir ez-Zor.

According to the administration's data, 1,223 families still existed in the camp, comprising approximately 7,100 displaced persons, distributed among 1,563 tents.
