Tribal sheikhs in Hasakah welcome Leader’s message to promote peace, coexistence

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cohesion among Syrian communities and sustain dialogue between Arab and Kurdish tribes, the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, in coordination with the Hasakah Council of Elders, organized a series of visits in recent days to Arab tribal sheikhs in Hasakah city. During these visits, the initiative delivered Leader Ocalan’s message, which called for peace, the reinforcement of peoples’ brotherhood, and the building of a democratic society founded on justice and equality.

During the visits, ANHA agency spoke with several tribal sheikhs who shared their views and positions on Leader Ocalan’s message and its significance, stressing that it reflects the aspirations of the region’s peoples for coexistence and stability.

The message as a call for unity, love, and peace

In this context, Sheikh Ismail al-Khallad of the al-Sada al-Naim (al-Sumayda’) tribe said that the Leader’s message reaffirmed the will of all sectors of society, young and old, to achieve peace. He expressed hope that bonds of love would endure and that all would preserve their land and unity.

Speaking about Arab–Kurdish brotherhood, Sheikh al-Khallad noted that this bond has always been strong, as both peoples have lived together in unity and affection, never feeling divided, and have stood side by side in times of joy and sorrow. He added that while some with personal interests seek to sow discord and division, “we are one people on one land, and nothing can separate us.”

Security and stability are the shared goal

For his part, Sheikh Khalid al-Abdullah of the Hassoun clan within the Jabbour tribe emphasized that security and stability are a common demand of all the region’s people, stressing that “our destiny is one, and our interests are one.” He called for solidarity and joint efforts to build a safe, stable, and united Syria based on coexistence without exclusion.

Similarly, Sheikh Khalid al-Diyab, also from the Jabbour tribe, said that the recent message “was a reaffirmation of what is already known, spreading love and peace in Jazira in particular and Syria in general,” describing it as a call for unity between Arab and Kurdish tribes and all the region’s peoples, and welcoming it as a “message of goodwill.”

Coexistence has made North and East Syria the safest part of the country

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ali Hamad al-As’ad, one of the Jabbour tribal leaders, stated that the leader’s message was “comprehensive and sufficient for all the peoples of al-Jazira.” He pointed out that the awareness of residents, sheikhs, dignitaries, and Christian community leaders has been a key factor in making this region “the safest and most peaceful in Syria throughout 14 years of war,” thanks to coexistence among Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, and Armenians.

Sheikh al-As’ad added that upon reading and reflecting on the message, he found it to be a continuation of the path of coexistence that has preserved stability in the region.

The sheikhs concluded by affirming that the Leader’s message carries a realistic vision for resolving the Syrian crisis and opens the door to building national unity based on justice and equality among all components.
