According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Syria's Daraa has witnessed a noticeable escalation in the activity of ISIS mercenaries in recent years, which resulted in killing of 17 mercenaries since the beginning of this year.

The Observatory indicated that the Nawa operation in the Daraa countryside killed 8 mercenaries, including an "emir", who played a role in strengthening the presence of mercenaries in southern Syria. In addition to this operation, the leader Muhammad Qasim al-Subaihi was executed at the end of June in the western Daraa countryside.

Worth to note that southern Syria is witnessing the continued presence of multiple military formations after the settlement imposed on the region through Russian mediation in 2018. These formations include members linked to ISIS mercenaries.
