TEV-DEM stands in solidarity with global campaign for leader Abdullah Ocalan

Today,TEV-DEM  sent an solidarity letter to those in charge of the global campaign (Freedom for Ocalan, the political solution for the Kurdish issue), which was launched by international unions and political parties in 74 cities around the world, on October 10 of this year.

TEV-DEM stated: “We are unions, chambers, civil society institutions, women’s and youth organizing offices, and all cultural events in NE Syria, which are under the umbrella of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), salute your moral struggle that honors what you have done in organizing your historic campaign to demand the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, the only prisoner in the world, who has been resisting and struggling for the free will of the peoples for more than a quarter of a century within a single room in a prison on Imrali Island.”

It pointed to the violations of the Turkish state against the leader Abdullah Ocalan, by stripping him of: “all of his natural rights, not to mention the policy of psychological and physical torture throughout the period of his captivity,” and indicated that the policy of isolation imposed on him is to empty the essence and values of the paradigm of the leader Abdullah Ocalan and cut off his communication with the Kurdish people and other peoples who yearn for freedom.”

TEV-DEM affirmed: “We, the federations, organizations and community activities, fully confirm that the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan contributes to ending the Turkish and Kurdish conflict, and opening a new page in the lives of both peoples and the rest of the peoples of the region. Therefore, we see that the solution to all outstanding problems in Turkey is Northern Kurdistan is achieving the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan.

TEV-DEM declared its full solidarity with the global campaign, and affirmed: “ We must mobilize all our energy and capabilities to achieve the goals of this campaign.”
