During funeral ceremony, Components of Qamishlo pledge to protect democratic project

Wednesday morning, thousands of components of Qamishlo district (the city of Qamishlo, Tal Hamis, Tirbespiyê and Amuda) and their countryside came to the city of Qamishlo to participate in the central ceremony organized by the Martyrs’ Families Council in Al-Jazera region for 7 martyrs from the city of Qamishlo and the districts of Tel Hamis and Tirbespiyê at the shrine of martyr Dalil Sarukhan.

The martyrs are 6 members of the Anti-Narcotics Forces who were martyred over a Turkish bombing on the Anti-Narcotics Academy in the Derik countryside on October 8 (Saleh Al-Dandush, Bassam Al-Hussein, Alan Nazim, Mahmoud Al-Waro, Fayyad Al-Hadmoul, and Muhammad Shamdeen). In addition to the funeral of the member of the People’s Protection Units, Redur Qamishlo, real name Ahmed Al-Ali, who was martyred in Deir ez-Zor on October 9.

The components of Qamishlo Province, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and Armenians, members of administrative institutions and unions, women and youth, clerics, sheikhs and notables of Kurdish and Arab tribes, jurists, writers, intellectuals, and artists, in addition to representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Al-Jazera region and political parties in NE Syria participated in the funeral ceremonies.

The coffins of the 7 martyrs were decorated with wreaths of roses and the flag of the Internal Security Forces and the People's Protection Units.

The 7 martyrs were carried on shoulders towards the shrine of the martyr Dalil Sarukhan.

Thousands of people of Qamishlo canton received them in the square of the shrine of the martyr Dalil Sarukhan, while they raised pictures of the 7 martyrs and others hung their pictures on their chests, chanting slogans that salute the resistance of the martyrs and the internal security forces.

When the procession of martyrs arrived at the square of the shrine of the martyr Dalil Sarukhan, the voices of the people chanted the slogan “Martyrs are immortal” and “Resistance is life.” When the coffins of the martyrs were placed on the ceremony platform, the participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, then the member of the Martyrs’ Families Council in Al Jazera, Haifi Al-Sayyid praised the struggle of the martyrs in maintaining the security and safety of NE Syria and said: “These heroes sacrificed themselves in order to protect the values of our people; all attacks targeting infrastructure, institutions, civilians and our security forces are contrary to international norms and aim to exterminate the Kurds and eliminate our democratic project .”

Al-Sayyid confirmed that all the attacks of the Turkish occupation state will not eliminate their resistance, but rather strengthen their will, and the presence of thousands around the martyrs today confirms that the people of the region will not give up the struggle against the Turkish attacks.

Al-Sayyid explained that all forces and countries that remain inaction about the Turkish attacks are accomplices to the crimes committed against the peoples of the region.

The co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Asia Abdullah, said: “The Turkish occupation state is launching direct brutal attacks against our region, either through its aircraft and forces or through some mercenary groups such as ISIS, the Al-Nusra Front, and others who committed massacres against our people with Turkish support.”

Abdullah stressed that Turkey seeks to benefit from the crises taking place in the world, the Middle East and Syria in particular, and on the 25th anniversary of the start of the international conspiracy against the leader Abdullah Ocalan and the occupation’s attack on Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi, it has escalated the pace of its treacherous attacks again against the region, with the aim of eliminating the democratic project and the women’s revolution."

Asia Abdullah explained: “These martyrs were undergoing training in order to combat narcotic substances that are sold by the dictatorial forces, and spread them among our people, our martyrs were struggling to protect our people and youth from these drugs."

Abdullah stressed that the only way for the peoples of the region is resistance and struggle for freedom, self-protection and self-organization.

Asia Abdullah explained that the duty towards this land and the martyrs has increased more at this stage, they will eliminate the occupation and all its forms, and they will raise the flag of freedom and all components will live on a free land where security and peace prevail, she said: “The people  will remain in the squares, and no attack will be able to weaken their will."

Asia Abdullah added“Together we will transform the power of our people into a power of organization and struggle. Therefore, we call on all Kurdish, Syrian, and democratic forces to do their duty and not remain silent regarding these attacks.”

In turn, the leader of the Internal Security Forces in NE Syria, Muhammad Omar, confirmed that all these martyrs pledged together to be an impenetrable barrier to the drug trade, and he said: “These martyrs did not threaten Turkey’s national security as it claims, all they do is combating drug trade in their areas.”

Al-Omar pledged to carry high the banner of the martyrs, and to struggle against drugs until its dealers are completely eliminated in the region.

In conclusion, the documents of testimony for the 7 martyrs were read and handed over to their families, then the bodies of 5 martyrs (Ahmed Khaled Al-Ali, Saleh Al-Dandush, Bassam Al-Hussein, Alan Nazim, and Muhammad Shamdeen) were buried in the shrine of the martyr Dalil Sarukhan, while the bodies of each of the martyrs Fayyad Al-Hadmoul were carried to Tal Hamis, and Muhammad Al-Waro to Tirbespiyê to be buried in their hometown.
