The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement, which reads:

"In its continuous aggression against our regions for years, and especially in its recent attacks by the Turkish fascist for the purposes of chaos and destruction and preventing the fight against terrorism by our people and its military and security forces, the Turkish enemy last night, October 8, targeted with a bloody attack several points in Derik and Rmelan, including the Anti-Drug Forces Academy that works to protect society from the repercussions of drugs, as well as oil sites and civilian areas, including agricultural projects in the Darbasiya countryside, and a number of workers were injured. Yesterday’s and today’s attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 29 members of the Anti-Drug Forces, and the wounding of 28 others, some of them seriously.

This aggression comes in light of the international silence accompanying the massacres committed by Turkey in our regions, as we previously spoke about the continued international silence will push Turkey towards committing more massacres, and what happened last night is a clear evidence, as we have pointed out since the beginning of the aggression. This silence and turning a blind eye increases the arrogance of the fascist regime, and general opinion must act with moral responsibility regarding what this regime is committing towards our people and our regions, and stay away from the policy of double standards compared to the current events in the region; because Turkey is exploiting the developments and events taking place in the region, and in parallel, carrying out massacres and targeting our people and our regions without any deterrent.

At a time when we, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, condemn what the Turkish enemy is committing in front of the world, we affirm that the accompanying international silence is considered clear support for Turkey in its aggression against our people, which necessitates the necessity of clear international positions regarding Turkey’s violations against our safe areas and against our people and our military forces, which made thousands of sacrifices in the fight against ISIS and terrorism, and those people contributed to protecting the entire world from ISIS and its criminal plans. Unfortunately, the international community today stands by and watches as these people are subjected to extermination by the forces that supported ISIS.

We also affirm that we continue to protect our people and their gains, and are committed to our right to legitimate defense without prejudice to the achievements of our people’s democratic revolution, and we are continuing to build the will of our society and its insistence on living in dignity.

In honor of the souls of our martyrs and to denounce this brutal aggression, we declare 3 days of general mourning for the souls of the martyrs of the Turkish aggression.
