80 percent of Suwaydiya station is out of service

On October 4, the Turkish occupation army escalated its ongoing attacks on the regions of NE Syria, targeting vital sites, service facilities, and power stations.

Among these stations is the Suwaydiya station, located south of the town of Rumailan in Qamishlo, which is considered the largest station in the Al-Jazera region.

The station had been subjected to a previous Turkish bombing on October 23, 2022, as the bombing at that time resulted in 40 percent damage to the station.

In following up on the latest information about the station, the administrator at the Suwaydiya station, Mustafa Mam Khair, explained that he was present at the station during the Turkish bombing.

He said: “The bombing resulted in breaking out of fire, so we tried to put out the fire with a number of our colleagues, then the fire brigade arrived at the place and put out the fire, but it was bombed again, and the aim of the bombing was to destroy the two main turbines, and during this attack the four turbines designated for power generation were bombed, and now the station is 80 percent out of service, and we have begun to repair the station.”

On the 5th of this month, Turkish warplanes bombed the gas plant at the Suwaydiya station, which produces about 13,000 gas cylinders per day.
