SDF dismantle an ISIS mercenary cell

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces published information about the process of dismantling the cell, during a statement published on the official website of the forces.

The media center noted, “Yesterday, Saturday, September 30, the Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) of our forces, in cooperation with the International Coalition Forces, carried out a tight security operation aimed at arresting a cell of the terrorist organization ISIS, including Amir. In the town of Markada in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

He continued that the operation "took place following aerial surveillance by the International Coalition Forces, where the house in which the terrorist cell members were hiding was surrounded, and our units were able to arrest two of its members, and another was killed after the call was issued to him by our unit fighters, and he did not comply with it in an attempt to flee, which necessitated shooting and killing him.”

While the media center confirmed that the cell that was targeted “was active in supplying the terrorist organization ISIS with weapons and ammunition, in addition to smuggling its members, so that they could carry out terrorist operations by targeting civilian and service institutions and members of our forces, with the aim of destabilizing the security and safety of citizens and the stability of the region.”

During the operation, a number of weapons and military equipment in their possession were confiscated, as follows:

1 - A quantity of Kalashnikov rifle rounds.

2 - Hand grenades /2/.

3 - Smartphones /3/.

4 - Regular phones number /1/.

5 – Some military equipment.
