AA in Euphrates issues statement on anniversary of ISIS attack against Kobani

This came through a statement made by the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Euphrates Region. On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attack by ISIS mercenaries on the city of Kobani, supported by the Turkish occupation state.

 The statement was read by the Joint Head of Administrative Affairs in the Euphrates Region, Khaled Jarada, in the Free Women’s Square in the city of Kobani.

The statement noted: “Today, the fifteenth of September, marks the ninth anniversary of the attack by the dark terrorist forces (ISIS) on the city of Kobani and its countryside, where the Battle of Kobani began with the launching of an ISIS attack through thousands of mercenaries who gathered from all over the world, carrying extremist ideology, and using all weapons, heavy tanks and armored vehicles they seized after controlling several cities in Syria and Iraq.

The statement explained: “After ISIS mercenaries attacked Kobani canton, they reached the city and occupied the largest part of it, some parties and countries, such as the Turkish state, in the words of its President Erdogan, bet on losing the battle of Kobani, but the resistance of the People’s and Women’s Protection Units with their light weapons, the mercenaries was broken after 134 days of legendary resistance and the cooperation of the international coalition led to liberation all the areas occupied by the mercenaries.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Euphrates Region pointed out in its statement that, “Since the beginning of the revolution of July 19, 2012, the first spark of which was in the city of Kobani, it has formed a knot for the Turkish occupation state, which tried to eliminate and erase this revolution by various means, but it failed.

The statement noted that "the defeat of ISIS mercenaries did not satisfy Turkey, so it occupied several Syrian regions as an alternative plan for it, this time using the Syrian mercenaries as a tool to achieve its interests and ambitions in the region, where Turkey occupied Afrin province after heroic resistance shown by the people of the region, and headed to occupy the city of Sere Kaniye / Ras Al-Ain / and Girê Spi / Tal Abyad/" Despite this, it was unable to achieve what it aspires to in the region, due to the great resistance of its people, who proved that they are committed to their land and their ideology towards democracy and coexistence.

The Autonomous Administration in the Euphrates region called on “international forces to support the Syrian Democratic Forces in carrying out their duty to eliminate ISIS mercenary cells and extremist forces that are trying to undermine the democratic experience in the regions of NE Syria.”
