"Human rights organizations must break their silence about the crimes of the occupiers"

Since the Turkish state and its mercenaries occupied Afrin on March 18, 2018 until now, it continues to commit various types of crimes there, as they commit crimes of murder, kidnapping, and rape against the people there, and at a higher rate against women, violating all international laws and norms.

A member of the Kongra Star coordination in Afrin and al-Shahba canton, Rehan Alo, spoke to ANHA's agency about the crimes and violations of the Turkish occupation state against women in the occupied areas.

Rehan Alo pointed out that many crimes and unjust practices were committed against women in Afrin from the beginning of its occupation until now, and she said: “Unjust practices against women are not limited to Afrin only, as these practices occur in all areas occupied by Turkey. Women in these areas are subjected to kidnapping, murder and rape.” Their crimes affect everyone, and they make no difference between a four-year-old child or an elderly person.”

'increasing stress'

Rehan noted, "Since the Turkish state and its mercenaries occupied Afrin and until now, they have been exercising pressure and psychological torture on the people as well. As a result, cases of pushing towards death (suicide) have increased, and the phenomenon of early marriage and forced marriage has spread in the city," noting that the occupation mercenaries put pressure on underage girls and forcing them to marry them.

It called on humanitarian organizations to break their silence and fulfill their responsibilities, take concrete steps, end the crimes taking place in Afrin and all the occupied areas, and ensure the safe return of the people of Afrin to their homes.

Documenting violations of the Turkish state

Rehan Alo pointed out that the crimes that were documented were not taken into consideration, saying: “We documented the violations of the Turkish occupation state and its crimes against women, through the women who left Afrin, but these documents did not receive any response, as human rights organizations could have It is important to document the crimes committed in Afrin, as the situation of women is very bad there.”

Rehan Alo concluded her speech by emphasizing the escalation of the struggle and doing what is necessary to protect women. It also called on human rights organizations to break their silence regarding the crimes against families, especially women.

According to the Human Rights Organization in Afrin - al-Shahba, more than 1,000 women in Afrin were subjected to kidnapping, 99 women to murder, and 74 women to rape, while 8 other women were pushed to death, from the beginning of 2018 until the end of last year, while 3 were exposed to Women for murder, and 30 women for kidnapping, from the beginning of this year until now.
