Clashes between groups affiliated with Damascus forces and ISIS in Deir ez-Zor

Clashes took place between armed groups affiliated with the Damascus government forces and ISIS mercenaries in the desert of Deir ez-Zor, killing and wounding 19 people.

9 people were killed and 10 others were wounded in clashes between groups of the "National Defense" and "Liwaa al-Quds" of the Damascus government forces and ISIS mercenaries in Shula desert in Deir ez-Zor, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

According to the observatory, 6 of the dead were from groups and 3 were sheep herders, amid information about the kidnapping of 5 sheep herders.

The death toll during the military operations in the Syrian desert, according to SOHR documents, has reached 443, since the beginning of 2023, including 27 ISIS mercenaries who were killed in clashes with the Damascus government forces and Russian air strikes on separate areas of the Homs desert, As-Suwayda, Hama, Al-Raqqa and Deir. Al-Zour and Aleppo, 256 Damascus government forces and groups loyal to it, and 160 citizens.

Most of these attacks occurred in the desert areas of Homs and Deir ez-Zor.
