Erdogan comments on normalization issue with Damascus

The President of the Turkish occupation state, Erdogan, commented on the issue of normalization with the Damascus government.

Today, Turkish media quoted the President of the Turkish occupation state, Erdogan, as saying that "Syria does not adopt a positive approach towards normalizing relations with his country, with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad distancing himself from the matter and not playing any role".

In his first personal meeting with Putin after one-year, Erdogan discussed several issues related to the Syrian crisis.

It is worth noting that in December of last year, Russia hosted the first talks in 11 years between the defense ministers of Turkey and Syria. Last May, it hosted a quadripartite meeting that included the foreign ministers of Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Russia, in an effort to push towards normalization between Damascus and Ankara.

Bashar al-Assad confirmed that the issue of the Turkish withdrawal is a necessary condition for the return of normal relations between Damascus and Ankara.
