The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement regarding the recent developments taking place in the Syrian cities, reads:

"The SDC is following with great interest the field developments in various Syrian cities, as a result of the deterioration of the general situation and the lack of a sense of stability among the Syrian citizen, who is living the bitterness of the war that destroy the country and displaced more than half of the people who live in the worst humanitarian conditions throughout its modern history, while the authorities in Damascus do nothing in the face of this dangerous situation, a position of helplessness to find any solutions, at a time when discontent with widespread poverty, corruption, and the deterioration of the living situation is no longer a secret to anyone.

The statement added, "The Syrian Democratic Council, as it shows its full solidarity with the protesters in various Syrian cities in which citizens expressed their discontent and rejection of the policies of the authority in Damascus, the SDC condemns the suppression of demonstrations and the use of violence against citizens, and calls on the Syrian authorities to implement the contents of the UN resolutions that affirmed they all respect the right to peaceful protest and release arbitrarily arrested and detained persons, and the start of a clear stage whose mission is to end the conflict in Syria, and to announce meaningful political steps according to a timetable, to ensure the democratic transition of the country and the establishment of a new constitutional order that establishes a democratic system that achieves justice for all, and the SDC condemns in the strongest terms the authorities’ shooting of demonstrators, and affirms its complete stand with the peaceful movement, it calls on the organizers of the movement in Aleppo and the cities of the Syrian coast, Al-Suwayda and Daraa, not to be drawn into the contradictory traps that the authorities and their security services aim at on one hand, and Turkey and its Brotherhood tools on the other, this is done by preserving the peacefulness of the protests first, and not move towards sectarian slogans that have been the cause of diverting the revolutionary movement since March 2011.

The Council warns the Syrians of all sects, especially the authority in Damascus, against repeating the wrong policies that have brought calamities upon the Syrians, and recalls the repeated statements of Turkish officials, who have repeatedly confirmed that they aim to occupy the city of Aleppo and its countryside and annex it to their influence.

The statement stressed, "The SDC stresses the importance of a political solution in the face of the seriousness of the situation in Syria, and strongly condemns the continued acts of violence and systematic destruction of the structure of Syrian society and human rights violations in the areas controlled by the Damascus authority and the areas occupied by Turkey, and stresses that these peaceful protests in all their forms is the right way to achieve the desired goal of democratic change.

Regarding the regional dimensions of the Syrian issue, the nature of the crisis requires a unified position of the Syrians and a national awareness of the burdens of the stage and the roots of the problem that the central tyrannical regime has entrenched, which calls for joint action to stop the conflict and exacerbate the severity of the humanitarian crisis, which undoubtedly will generate more congestion, and therefore we once again affirm our support for these protests and the rightful demands of the protesters, we call on all Syrians to show solidarity with them".
