Death toll in ISIS attack on Syrian army bus rises to 33

The death toll of the Damascus government forces, due to the recent attack carried out by ISIS mercenaries, has risen to 33, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

On Thursday, ISIS mercenaries attacked a military bus belonging to the Damascus government forces in the Al-Mayadeen desert on the Deir Ezzor-Homs road, in an attack considered the bloodiest during the year.

The death toll during the military operations in the Syrian desert, according to the documentation of the Syrian Observatory, has reached 412 since the beginning of the year.

The third in a month

This is at least the third attack by ISIS against the forces of the Damascus government and its loyal groups since the beginning of this month.

On Monday, 10 members of the Damascus government forces were killed in Raqqa Governorate, and 7 other people, most of them from the Damascus government forces were killed early this month as a result of an attack launched by ISIS on a convoy containing oil tanks in the eastern countryside of Hama.

On July 28, ISIS mercenaries claimed responsibility for an explosive device attack that targeted the Sayyidah Zeinab area, south of Damascus, the day before, killing at least 6 people and wounding more than 20 others, according to the authorities.

ISIS often claims responsibility for targeting military buses or others carrying employees in public facilities by planting or attacking explosive devices, especially in the vast and mostly uninhabited Syrian desert area.

Worth to note that ISIS mercenaries lost all their areas and four of their leaders were killed, the last of whom was Abu Al-Hussein Al-Husseini Al-Qurashi.

On August 3, ISIS announced the appointment of Abu Hafs al-Hashemi al-Qurashi as its leader to be the fifth leader of ISIS.
