Demonstration to support of women in Şengal and Afghanistan

Today, the Kongra Star coordination in the Euphrates region organized a demonstration in the city of Kobani, in which hundreds of residents and members of the Democratic Autonomous Administration institutions in the region participated.

The demonstration started from the Free Women's Square in the city of Kobani to Al-Salam Roundabout, in which the demonstrators raised banners that read: "With the spirit of the struggling women, we will unite the ranks of the world's women against the patriarchal mentality," and "With our organization, we will stop the genocide against women and build a new life".

Upon the arrival of the demonstrators at the Al-Salam Roundabout, they stood for a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, then a speech was delivered on behalf of the women in the Euphrates region, delivered by the co-chair of the General Administration of Finance in the region, Firiyaz Barkal, who denounced the violence against women in Afghanistan and the women who were kidnapped by ISIS mercenaries and subjected to persecution and injustice.

Firiyaz said: "We, the women in NE Syria, are against all forms of violence against women. Today, women are being annihilated by regimes that harbor hatred for women, trying to obliterate their identity and bury them alive, but this is impossible, as the era of burying women is over".

Firiyaz called on women in all parts of the world to support oppressed women who suffer from injustice and tyranny, "particularly in Afghanistan, those areas where women have become stripped of their rights".

The demonstration ended with the chanting of the slogan "Women, Life, Freedom".

This demonstration comes as part of the activities of women's organizations and movements in NE Syria that support the campaign of the Kurdistan Women's Organization (KJK), which revealed on July 9 that it will launch the campaign "We stand with the women of Afghanistan and Şengal against the attacks of the dominant man"; To put an end to the massacres committed against women, nature and life, it will continue until August 15, 2023.
