​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Turkey settles strangers in Girê Spî

A local source from the occupied Girê Spî Canton reported that the Turkish occupation authorities had settled 191 Syrian refugees, who had been deported in two groups, since the beginning of August. The first one, numbering 161 people, was settled on August 2, and the second, 30 people, were handed over to the mercenaries of the military police at the border gate in Girê Spî Canton on August 3.

The displaced Syrian refugees from Turkey are settled in the homes of the forcibly displaced indigenous people from the Canton and its countryside occupied by Turkey since October 2019, and most of the displaced are from the cities (Hama, Aleppo, Idlib, Damascus countryside, and Deir al-Zor).

The Turkish occupation state aims to settle foreigners in the occupied areas, such as Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê, to change the demographics of the region. Since the beginning of 2023, more than 12,000 families have been deported from Turkey to the occupied territories.

Turkish officials stated that Turkey will settle more than a million Syrian refugees in the areas it occupies in Syria, such as Jarabulus, Azaz, Afrin, Serêkaniyê, and Girê Spî.
