The General Council of the Democratic Union Party issued a statement in conjunction with the ninth anniversary of the Şengal massacre, which was carried out by ISIS mercenaries on August 3, 2014.

The statement stated that "the invasion of Şengal is a continuation of the systematic genocide against the Kurds; the realization by the enemies of the Kurdish people that Şengal represents the truth and history of the Kurds in terms of culture, belief and resistance, and that is why they began their invasion from it to expand to all parts of Kurdistan, so they headed north and west until they reached Kobani to receive their historical defeat." And we must realize that all of this comes within the framework of the plan to exterminate the Kurds, which was issued by the Turkish National Security in 2014, and requires the extermination of the Kurds wherever they are, leading to the undermining of the Guerrilla strongholds in the mountains of Kurdistan.

He added, "We affirm, on the anniversary of the Yazidi decree, that the attacks and conspiratorial plans against our Yazidi people are still continuing, and that there is an urgent need to consider ourselves, as the enemy is practicing its brutality and its inherited plots, and we are required to realize this and search for ways, resistance and consolidation of our gains achieved thanks to the blood of the martyrs of freedom."

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party recalled, in its statement, "the martyrs of Şengal, and we bow before all the martyrs of the freedom of the Kurdish people, and pledge them to follow their path for the sake of the freedom of the Kurdish people, protect their dignity, and defend their human rights and the Yazidi heritage, which represents the roots of the Kurdish people."

He also appealed to all "our Yazidi people to return to their homes and to rebuild and develop all Yazidi areas and their sanctities, and we also call on all democratic forces and humanitarian organizations to stand by our Yazidi people and consider what happened as an "ethnic genocide" against the Yazidis and work to deter the forces that still threaten and attack the Yazidis. them in their homeland.”
