On Thursday, the French capital, Paris, and its districts witnessed protests for the third night in a row, after a minor was shot dead by a policeman in Nanterre, near Paris.

And the French government announced the deployment of 40,000 policemen and gendarmes across the country on Thursday evening, including 5,000 in Paris and its nearby suburbs, to confront possible riots.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan said the number of security forces would be "four times more" than in the past 2 nights. And Justice Minister Eric Dupont-Moretti said, "All of this has to stop".

Despite the massive security deployment and curfew, acts of violence and great material damage were reported on Thursday evening in several cities. Darmanan said 667 people were arrested Thursday night across the country.
