SDC condemns the targeting of popular market in Jisr al-Shughur

And the Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement regarding the air strike that targeted this morning a popular market in the city of Jisr al-Shughur, west of Idlib, which resulted in the death of civilians.

In its statement, the Syrian Democratic Council expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted, this morning, a popular market in the city of Jisr al-Shughur, in the north of the country, and resulted in deaths, injuries and damage.

It added, "We in the SDC, while deploring this unbridled tendency to commit bloody acts and resort to violence, call upon the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria and international actors to condemn the continuation of these acts, work to protect civilians, and engage more in finding a solution to the murderous Syrians."

The statement also stated: "At a time when the Syrian file is witnessing a political movement at the local and Arab levels in terms of finding peaceful solutions to the Syrian crisis, which has exceeded two decades, we are surprised by the tendency of some Syrians to use violence and thus the counter-violence that brings us back to square one and leaves the Syrian wound without a bandage."

The statement called on the Syrian parties to read the Syrian reality based on a sense of national belonging, and to work hard to find a real way out of the crisis and its exhausting repercussions for the Syrian citizen inside and outside the country.

And let us not lose sight of the scenes of Syrians drowning in the seas and suffering of displacement, the pain of displacement, the cruelty of asylum, the darkness of prisons and the torments of camps, and that the Syrian opposition, which has the cornerstone of decision-making and is tasked with negotiating, respond by rallying around a comprehensive national project that brings us together and lifts the country from a state of division and continuous decline.

There must be a position that fortifies the country from violence, stops the bloodshed, and unites the Syrians on the road to salvation."

The Syrian Democratic Council also renewed its open call for "dialogue and our extended hand for peace to all Syrian parties, and to work together to find a national approach consistent with UN Resolution 2,254, and to start realizing the aspirations of the Syrian people who yearn for freedom, justice and equality."
