Jamal Rashid: Liberation of Afrin is everyone's responsibility

The deputy co-presidency of Afrin and al-Shahba canton council explained that every displaced person in NE Syria must be ready to liberate Afrin from the Turkish occupation, stressing "continuing the resistance against the occupation and its policies, and preventing the expansion of the Ottoman Brotherhood thought in the region."

This came during an interview by Jamal Rashid, the deputy co-presidency of the Afrin and al-Shahba canton council, about the policies pursued by the occupation and its mercenaries in Afrin canton and its objectives in the short and long term, and the duty of the Kurdish people in the world against the policies of erasure and denial.

Rashid said at the beginning of his speech, "With the aim of reviving the Ottoman dream, the Turkish occupation laid down its plans to occupy the region, and the occupation of Afrin five years ago is only part of these plans, as well as the Adana Agreement in 1998, according to which it entered the region after the start of the Syrian crisis."

Regarding the policies of the Turkish occupation state in Afrin canton after its occupation, Rashid said: "With occupation of Afrin canton, the policies of the Turkish occupation state were not within the framework of demographic change and terrorizing the people, like the rest of the occupied regions (Idlib, Jarabulus and Azaz), but rather aimed at separating the canton from its geography Syria and Kurdistan, and its annexation to Turkey, by opening the roads for militant mercenaries and thieves to intimidate the people, by killing, kidnapping and seizing their property.

He added, "The policy of demographic change pursued by the Turkish occupation in Afrin goes beyond cutting trees or destroying some mosques and religious shrines, looting antiquities and building settlements, but rather an organized and systematic policy to erase the history of Afrin, completely change the demographics, and legitimize the occupation in the region."

Rashid pointed to the seriousness of the policies pursued by the occupation in Afrin, saying, "In addition to paving the way for separating the canton from the geography of Syria as a close goal for it, the Turkish occupation seeks to train the children of the region on the foundations and ideas of the Brotherhood imbued with the goals of the fascist Justice and Development Party to consolidate its occupation.

Rashid stressed, "The people of the occupied Afrin canton at home must continue the resistance against the occupation and its policies, and prevent the expansion of the Ottoman Brotherhood ideology in the region."

He also stressed, "Every displaced person in al-Shahba canton and all regions of northern and eastern Syria should bear responsibility to liberate Afrin from occupation, injustice and tyranny, and to protect the history of the region, and their position will be unified against the crimes of the occupation there."

He stressed "raising the pace of the struggle for Afrin, and liberating it from the clutches of the occupation, which aims to end the presence of the Kurdish people and their strength during the next hundred years."

It is noteworthy that the Kurdistan Community Union (KCK) had warned, earlier in June, of the Turkish occupation's policies in NE Syria and its efforts to occupy Rojava and Syria and exterminate the Kurds.
