​​​​​​​AANES appeals to the International Counter-Terrorism Coalition Conference

The co-chair of the Department of External Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Bedran Çiya Kurd, addressed him in response to an appeal to the conference of the International Coalition to Combat Terrorism, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In it, he called on the coalition countries to carry out their responsibilities regarding terrorism issues in the regions of North and East Syria.

The text of the appeal reads:

"For years, we have been fighting ISIS and terrorism in cooperation with the International Coalition, and we have made important steps and very significant gains in that field. It has become very necessary at this stage that counter-terrorism operations continue on a larger scale and at various levels (politically, economically, and judicially) in order for us to be able to defeat terrorist organization in all its forms and names.

Because until now, efforts to combat terrorism have been confined to the military and security aspect only.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons that prevented the development of a more comprehensive struggle, in which we have been late until now, because in parallel with what we are living through today, there are clear dangers evident from the side of terrorism, and in particular from ISIS, and its relentless attempts to organize itself and regroup its forces, which indicates the existence of great dangers against our regions and in general. region and the world. This will play a major role in creating chaos and threatening the gains achieved.

On the other hand, there is the issue of terrorist fighters in AANES prisons who remain unresolved, who represent a serious problem and a significant burden as well as a responsibility of the entire international community. It is essential that there be clear attitudes about them and that they be tried in fair courts in the areas where they have committed their terrorist crimes and are responsible for terrorist acts in our and other regions. as well as children and women from ISIS families, their case is difficult and they number in the thousands. A long-term solution must be found and security guaranteed in the camps so that we can provide the necessary support and rid the children of ISIS's mindset according to thoughtful rehabilitation programmes. We hope that the Governments of the International Coalition will assume their full responsibilities towards this major dilemma by providing adequate support, especially at such meetings as the current one. we want to convey these proposals and visions to you in the hope that they will be dealt with responsibly and with clear support for the direct consequences that this will have on stabilization and counter-terrorism efforts. "
