AANES: Baghdad procedures exacerbate suffering of Makhmour camp's residents

AANES issued a statement to the public opinion regarding the Iraqi army’s attempts to surround Makhmour camp with barbed wire and erect towers, which read:

"In light of the difficult circumstances and conditions that the residents of Makhmour camp are going through and the apparent suffering of asylum and escape from the oppression of the Turkish state, the actions of the Baghdad government have increased on them during the past hours, which contributed to deepening the suffering of the camp and its residents.

The attacks on Makhmour camp and the attempts to besiege it are a actions that contradicts the values and morals of protecting the camps and the refugees therein.

The camp residents are civilians and refugees under the auspices of the United Nations and have been suffering from a siege for years.

In the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, we affirm support for the refugees in Makhmour camp, and we sympathize with their suffering and the difficult conditions they suffer from, just as we support any camp inhabited by refugees anywhere.

We call for the need to solve matters through dialogue language instead of language of militarization and weapons, and considering dialogue as always a basic approach towards any solution without other options that have irrelevant repercussions.
