​​​​​​​Qalaji: We decry isolation on leader’s Ocalan

Amidst international silence and disciplinary sanctions every three months, the Turkish occupation state continues to impose strict isolation on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, in addition to depriving him of meeting his lawyer and family, despite the repeated submission of requests to meet with him by the lawyer of the al- Asr Office.

No information has been obtained from the leader Abdullah Ocalan since March 25, 2021 until now. The Secretary-General of the Change and Ennahda Party, Mustafa Qalaji, confirmed that the isolation is a violation of the laws, and explained: "The arrest of the international leader Abdullah Ocalan by the Turkish occupying authorities is a violation of all international covenants, customs, and laws related to public and political freedoms."

The leader is a prisoner of conscience

Mustafa Qalaji stated that the leader Abdullah Ocalan is a prisoner of conscience, and noted: "The arrest of the leader Abdullah Ocalan is not like the criminal arrests that are based on the commission of a criminal act, and then his arrest by the judicial forces, and Abdullah Ocalan did not commit any act that harms the Turkish government or the Turkish side.

He explained: "Rather, he is a prisoner of conscience (leader Abdullah Ocalan), and prisoners of conscience have a different treatment according to international norms and laws than the treatment he receives from the Turkish occupier in all its details. The treatment of prisoners of conscience must be appropriate to the state of detention, but the state of detention imposed on Abdullah Ocalan is completely different from any other arrest case, on the level of the entire region and on the level of countries where there are political unrest.

Qalaji expressed the position of the Syrian Change and Ennahda Party on the arrest of the leader, and stressed: "We decry and condemn all this disgraceful behavior by the Turkish occupier, and we seek to be present in all activities that demand the freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, just as the party participated in most of the activities that It was held in Syria regarding the leader, the last of which was the participation in the event held in al-Hasakah on the occasion of the anniversary of the leader's arrest.

Changing the nature of the region lies in the thought of the leader

On the nature of the situation in Turkey, Syria and Iraq: "Mostly, the democratic understanding of the region is non-existent and is not available and does not exist in the regimes in the region, whether in Turkey, Syria, Iraq, or even the small state of Lebanon and even Jordan and Iran, and regionally the issue of democracy." It is a matter of political luxury in these areas."

Mustafa Qalaji emphasized: "Democracy is relative, like any other issue that can exist. Democracy in the region is not guaranteed results, so if Abdullah Ocalan's thought was available to people more, the situation would be different, and the reason for Turkey's arrest of the leader is to prevent the spread of his thought among the peoples, this thought can change the nature of the region."
