​​​​​​​Damascus Government deprives besieged areas from celebrating of Eid 

The siege imposed by the Damascus government on the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo and al-Shahba canton casts a negative shadow on all aspects of the people's life.

With the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the shopping atmosphere of the besieged has disappeared as a result of the insane rise in prices and the siege.

With the advent of Eid al-Fitr, the markets of the two neighborhoods witness the disappearance of the manifestations of celebrating the advent of Eid and preparing for it. There is no noticeable purchasing movement in the markets, as if these days are not the preceding Eid al-Fitr, as they are usually characterized by crowded markets and crowds of people to buy Eid sweets and new clothes.

ANHA 's correspondents monitored the reality of the situation, and took pictures and videos showing the state of preparations in the two besieged neighborhoods, as one of the repercussions of the imposed siege, which caused the Damascus government to deprive the people of even the joy of celebrating the holiday.

In al-Shahba canton, the situation is not far from what is in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, but the siege is accompanied by continuous attacks by the Turkish occupation on the villages of the canton and the villages of Sherawa and Shera districts, where thousands of displaced people from Afrin live alongside the residents of the canton.

Shoppers in the besieged al-Shahba markets indicate that they buy Eid needs only to draw the missing smile on the children's faces.

"We have been living in this situation and this suffocating siege for 5 years," said the displaced Afrin, Omar Shih.

Omar pointed out that the high prices are not only during the holidays, but throughout the year, and that the area is daily subjected to Turkish bombardment.

Omar concluded his speech by saying: "We call on the countries of the world, human rights organizations and the government of Damascus to lift the siege on the region. We are also residents of Syria, and Eid represents the hope and joy of children."
