Tev Dem: Red Wednesday represents values of equality and co-existence among people

The Democratic Society Movement stated on the occasion of Çarşema Sor, the Red Wednesday holiday, which marks on April 19th this year, calling on Kurdish forces to protect the Yazidi Democratic Self-Administration

The statement said: "On the occasion of Çarşema Sor, the beginning of the New Year for the Yazidi Kurds, we also congratulate our Kurdish people, especially the Yazidis. We also congratulate Abdullah Ocalan, who brought back the spirit and identity of this ancient religion with its culture and historical legacies among the Kurdistan community and the peoples of the region through his contemporary philosophy

We also congratulate the families of the martyrs, all the fighters and resistors on the battle fronts, Guerilla fighters, Women's Free Units - Star, People and Women's Protection Units, the Sinjar Resistance Units, and the Syrian Democratic Forces who were among the first defenders, sacrificing to protect these historical legacies from the attacks of ISIS terrorists.

Çarşema Sor, or the beginning of the Kurdish New Year in Eastern April, is one of the holiest months of the year, also renewal for all living and nature, each year everything reform itself.

  The essence of Red Wednesday has great and hallowed historical and religious and national meanings that represent mutual respect and acceptance of the other on the principle of equality, justice, essential values of peace and co-existence between all components of the Mesopotamia region, as in Kurdistan and the experiment of the alliance of people in north and east Syria.

As the region's peoples celebrate this year's Red Wednesday holiday, the Yazidi community in Shengal is still standing up to difficulties and tragedies that come due seige that formed by Kurdistan Democratic Party authorities in Başur Kurdistan on hundreds of thousands of Yezidis in its camps and preventing them from returning to liberated Shengal.

which we consider an injustice and a violation of the rights of the Yazidi community and an attempt to Undermining their will.

We, in the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), on this occasion, congratulate all the peoples of the region regardless of their religions, beliefs, and cultures, especially the Yazidi Kurds, and congratulate them on this day that has a great hestorical importance. We call on all political and national Kurdish forces and all human rights and civil organizations to protect the Yazidi Democratic Self-Administration in Shingal and work to put an end to policies that violate the rights of the Yazidis."
