Meeting between AANES and Canadian government

The official website of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria published post about a Canadian delegation's visit to NE Syria, yesterday, April 5, 2023, and its meeting with officials of the Autonomous Administration, and the representative of the Women's Protection Units YPJ.

The delegation included, the official of the Emergency Operations Management Department and the highest official for security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sebastien Bolieu, director of the Syrian section at the Canadian Embassy in Lebanon,Rasta Da'ei, and Yannick Lamond, director of the Emergency Operations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation was received by the Deputy Co-Chair of Foreign Relations Department , Rubel Baho, member of the administrative body, Khaled Ibrahim, and the representative of the Women's Protection Units YPJ, Lana Hussein.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the political situation in Syria in general and NE Syria in particular, and the humanitarian, economic and security situation in the region.

And according to the same source, Rubel Baho said, commenting on the recent meeting in Moscow and the path of normalization between the Turkish and Syrian regimes, "Any normalization process that is not based on taking the Syrians stance and the lived reality into consideration, without talking about a comprehensive political process, in accordance with United Nations Resolution 2254, it will be like returning the conflict in Syria from the beginng, and prolonging the Syrian crisis for more decades, and this will have serious repercussions."

Rubel Baho affirmed that "the Turkish threats are still continuing through the almost daily bombardment of NE Syria, through drones and heavy artillery, and striking the vital and economic sites of the Autonomous Administration."

Baho added: "Despite all the difficult circumstances our regions are going through, the AANES will continue to cooperate with the Canada, and with all countries that have citizens and children in the Autonomous Administration areas."

The official of Emergency Operations Management Department and the highest official for security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sebastien Bolieu, said, "Canada is very grateful for the cooperation with the Autonomous Administration in NE Syria and is aware of its efforts in providing care for detained individuals in light of the very difficult security situation."

And continued I would also like to take the opportunity to express our condolences to people across the region for the recent earthquake that caused widespread destruction and loss of life."

The meeting ended with the Autonomous Administration handing over 4 women and 10 children from ISIS families, according to an official handover document between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Canada State.
