Turkish occupation assaults on agenda of Austrian parliament

The Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO), Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), Liberal Forum and New Austria (NEO) prepared draft Law on Turkish State Attacks on Rojava and South Kurdistan located within the artificial borders of Iraq and Syria, the draft law called for an end to Turkish attacks and compliance with international law.

The draft also called on the Vienna government to warn the Ankara administration, which initially put the draft on the agenda of the national parliament's foreign affairs committee last week after discussions in the committee, the government's partners in the Austrian People's Party (OVP) and the Green Party announced their support for the draft law.

In particular, the Austrian People's Party, the main partner of the prime minister's government, stated that efforts must be made to ensure that Turkey achieves the values of the rule of law and human rights, the release of imprisoned journalists and an end to pressure against the HDP, on the other hand, the Austrian Social Democratic Party demanded ( SPO) Opposition Minister for Foreign Affairs, Aleksander Schallenberg issued a statement condemning the closure case against the HDP.

After discussions the draft law, which has taken its final form at the proposal of the government and opposition parties, will be put on the agenda of the National Parliament this afternoon, the draft was prepared by MP Reinhold Lopatka, Ewa Ernst Dzidzik, Petra Baer and Dr. Helmut Brandstetter, and is expected to be approved by a majority vote in today's session.
