SOHR: Death toll from American strikes has risen to 19

Today, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, "The death toll from US air strikes on Iranian-allied groups' positions in eastern Syria has risen to 19 fighters."

The observatory added, "The dead were killed as a result of the initial American response to a drone attack on Thursday on a US military site in Syria, which killed an American contractor and wounded another and five soldiers."

The past two days have witnessed tension between the US forces and groups affiliated with Iran.

SOHR noted that US strikes targeted points in Syria, after midnight Thursday-Friday from the southern side, and an ammunition depot in the Grain Center and the Rural Development Center opposite the officers' residence in the Harabish neighborhood of Deir Ezzor city.

According to the observatory, the air strikes killed and injured members of the Iranian-affiliated groups.

For its part, sources in Syria, reported by the Iranian "Press TV" channel, denied targeting a military site belonging to Iran, stressing that "the American strikes targeted the grain collection center and the rural development center in the Harabish area, located near the Deir Ezzor military airport."
