32 political parties and movements: Turkey and Syrian Coalition responsible for Jendris massacre

Today, political parties and movements in NE Syria held a joint press conference at the Center for Studies and Diplomatic Relations of NE Syria in the city of Qamishlo, in the presence of dozens of media outlets.

The parties explained through the statement , which were read by the co-chair of the Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party, Telal Muhammed, in Kurdish, and a member of the Conservative Party, Akrem Mahshoush, in Arabic, that Turkey as an occupying power as well as the (coalition) are responsible for the crime committed in Jendris.

The statement reads:

"In a blatant aggression, a military group affiliated with the Ahrar al-Sharqiya terrorist faction, affiliated with the Syrian National Army, fired live bullets at a group of our Kurdish people while they were lighting the Newroz torch in the city of Jendris in the occupied Afrin city, causing the martyrdom of 4 people and wounding others.

This criminal act reveals the reality of what is happening in the areas occupied by the Turkish forces and their mercenaries, especially in the Afrin region, which has been suffering for 5 years from killings, arrests, torture and looting by these mercenaries from the remnants of ISIS, Al-Nusra and other terrorist factions that Turkey brought to these areas, in addition to bringing families of armed factions and settling them in Kurdish homes there, all of which comes in the context of the systematic demographic change of those areas.

Turkey as an occupying power as well as the (Syrian Coalition) as a political cover for the occupation are responsible for this crime, and other tragedies that take place in those areas.

We in the political parties in NE Syria while mourning the souls of our martyrs, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded. We call on the international community, especially the Security Council, the United States of America and Russia, to move quickly to end the Turkish occupation of Afrin, Girê Spî, Serekaniye and the entire north of Syria, and to classify the mercenaries of the so-called National Army with all its formations affiliated with the Syrian Coalition as a terrorist organization, as its behavior is not different from the behavior of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham or from the behavior of the terrorist organization ISIS.

We call on all the peoples of Syria to escalates the struggle to end the Turkish occupation of Syrian territory, and to stand behind the uprising of the people of Afrin and support their legitimate demands and the return of the IDPs.

This crime comes to show the importance of speeding up the implementation of UN Resolution 2254 and reaching a sustainable solution to the Syrian crisis through the participation of all components of Syria in the negotiating process and achieving their aspirations to reach a democratic, parliamentary, pluralistic and decentralized homeland in which all its citizens enjoy justice, freedom and equality”.
