Bashar al-Assad visits UAE

Bashar al-Assad arrived to the Emirates, accompanied by his wife, according to what was announced by the official media of both the Emirates and the Damascus government.

And the United Arab Emirates News Agency stated, an hour ago, "that the President of the State, Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, received Al-Assad, and explained that "the Syrian President's plane was accompanied by warplanes upon entering the UAE's airspace, welcoming the visit of his excellency."

The UAE agency added: "an official reception ceremony was held for the President Bashar al-Assad upon his convoy's arrival at the Al Watan Palace."

In turn, an agency affiliated with the Damascus government said: "President Bashar al-Assad is accompanied by a delegation that includes Dr. Samer Al-Khalil, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Mansour Azzam, Minister of Presidency Affairs, Dr. Boutros Hallaq, Minister of Media,and Dr. Ayman Soussan, Assistant Foreign Minister."

The UAE was one of the first Arab countries to resort to normalizing relations with the Damascus government, but these moves increased after the devastating earthquake that hit Syrian and Turkish regions.
