Şengal crime... Parliamentary condemnations, calls for expulsion Turkish ambassador

The member of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi parliament, MP Karim Yusef Abu Souda, condemned the repeated targeting by Turkey and the violation of Iraqi airspace through warplanes and drones.

 "We express our condemnation of the Turkish plane targeting an official vehicle led by one of the leaders of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Sinjar district," Abu Souda said in a statement to "Roj News" agency.

Abu Souda renewed his categorical rejection of any encroachment on Iraqi lands, in reference to the Turkish encroachments.

The parliamentarian pointed out that "the only way to solve problems is through peaceful and diplomatic means, through dialogue, and in accordance with international laws and legislation."

On the other hand, Muhammad Al-Sayhoud, the Iraqi representative of the State of Law coalition, called on the Iraqi government to use pressure cards on Turkey, after the recent bombing in Şengal district.

Al-Sayhoud said, "The Turkish clear and flagrant assault on Iraq's sovereignty and dignity, and the current Iraqi government must not remain inaction, as did the previous government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi, when more than one of the tourist and residential areas in Nineveh and Dohuk were targeted."

Al-Sayhoud stressed the need for "the Iraqi government headed by Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani to exercise its role and carry out its constitutional duties in defending the borders of Iraq to remove the Turkish forces from Iraqi lands by issuing deterrent decisions that oblige Turkey to withdraw its forces and end presence of its military barracks.

Al-Sayhoud pointed out that "Turkish aggressive actions only increase the Iraqis' cohesion to defend their land and security."

He called on "Turkey to compensate Iraq for material, moral and human losses, and to bear the expenses of treating the wounded," stressing, "We will follow all legal and constitutional steps to respond to these attacks."

In addition, the member of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Haider al-Salami, described the government's stance towards the Turkish bombing as "weak," indicating that the Turkish ambassador should be expelled from Iraq.

Al-Salami said in a press statement, "The government's position towards the Turkish bombing of northern Iraq is weak, and we hope that there will be strong movements regarding the Turkish file and the bombing, so that everyone knows that Iraqi blood is precious."

He continued, "The expulsion of the Turkish ambassador and the summoning of the Iraqi charge d'affaires from Ankara is the least response that the government is taking in this period, after which it will discuss the repercussions of the attack and this crime against the Iraqi people and the actions of the Turkish side."
