The activities of the conference "Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan... Peace and Stability in the World" organized by the Kurdish Action Group for Human Rights in South Africa in cooperation with the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Ocalan started in Cape Town, South Africa today.

After the opening speech delivered by the spokesman for the ruling party in South Africa - the National Congress, Cameron Dagmore, who touched on the Kurdish struggle and affirmed their support for the freedom of leader Ocalan and the struggle of the Kurdish people, the spokesman for the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Ocalan, Ferzandeh Munther, delivered a speech in which he indicated the importance of holding conference in a country like South Africa; As it fought a bitter struggle against apartheid led by the fighter Nelson Mandela.

Munther touched on the similarities between the struggle waged by the leader Ocalan and the struggle of Mandela and the similar conditions of detention, captivity and isolation, and stressed the importance of the support of the people of South Africa to the Kurdish people in order to obtain their rights.

He also pointed to the plot that targeted the leader Abdullah Ocalan, as well as the resistance that the leader is waging on the island of Imrali, and said that "this resistance is being fought for the sake of all peoples."

He expressed his hope that "just as democracy was achieved in South Africa, under the leadership of leader Ocalan, democracy will be achieved in the Middle East, that peoples join together for freedom, justice and democracy," and said freedom for the sake of leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Munther referred to the thought of leader Ocalan and the philosophy that he brought to light for the sake of the peoples of the Middle East and humanity, in the name of democratic modernity, which is an alternative to capitalist modernity.

A figure in the struggles of South Africa: The situation of the Kurds was much more difficult than ours

Judge Albie Zaks, a prominent human rights activist who was a key figure in South Africa's struggles against apartheid and was appointed by Nelson Mandela as a judge in the country's first constitutional court, delivered a speech in which he touched on his meetings with the Kurdish people, which began in 1968 at an Amnesty International conference, by getting acquainted with them there. A Kurdish activist told him that they are living in difficult conditions where they are being killed and executed, and he added: "We used to say that the situation is difficult in South Africa, but the situation of the Kurds was much more difficult than ours... I was greatly affected by the fact that the whole world does not pay attention to this people." He said, "The humanity that said freedom to Mandela has not yet said that for the sake of Ocalan."

He added, "I went to Turkey several times, and each time they talked about the Kurdish issue." He continued, "I told them that the issue is not Kurdish, but rather the issue of Turkey.  They say that the Kurds are few in number, but when the elections come, they talk about the Kurds. There is something important in the hands of the Kurds. We also suffered from this matter. I am ready to share my thoughts with the Kurds. We support the Kurds and it is very important that we learn from each other. We also created existence out of non-existence and the Kurds should do that too. We had many mistakes too. We built democracy, and our constitution is democratic and good. We reaped the fruits of our struggle, and I hope that the Kurds will achieve this as well, and we believe in achieving this.

For his part, the co-chair of the Kurdish Action Group for Human Rights in South Africa, Mahmoud Patel, said that the meeting of elite influential figures in South Africa must have a role in providing support to the Kurdish people and the quest for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan.

After the words were finished, the axes of the conference began. The first axis was titled The Ideas of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Democratic Nation, and it was moderated by Joy Musa, who is one of the veteran fighters in South Africa.

During this axis, the spokesman for the South African Communist Party, Barry Mitchell, delivered a speech in which he said that leader Ocalan worked to build a democratic society and focused on training to distance society from ignorance, as well as seeking to build a new society and focus on the economy.

Pointing out that it is very difficult to be creative while you are in prison. He said that Ocalan knows the Middle East society well, and therefore he developed solutions for it. Ocalan's thought is a new democratic thought that he created for the sake of society in the Middle East.

He pointed out that the Kurds are divided between four countries, and they are culturally rich, and this inspired leader Ocalan to build a new regime. Explaining that the democracy that leader Ocalan is building is very important because he understood well the capitalist system and the nation-state, explained it well, and sought to overcome it.

Noting that the bureaucracy slows down the movement, and therefore they also in South Africa need an ideology like leader Ocalan, preferring to call it "Ocalanism." He said that the democratic confederation proposed by the leader Ocalan is very important to them as well.

The President of the South African Trade Union Congress, Melvin De Bruyne, also spoke, who affirmed their support as trade unions for leader Ocalan and their quest for their freedom.

After that, discussions continued among the audience about the ideas of leader Abdullah Ocalan.
