Mothers in Sheikh Maqsoud cannot find milk for children

The siege imposed by the Fourth Division of the Damascus government forces increases the suffering of the people in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, especially after the earthquake. The families evacuate their homes for fear that they will be demolished as a result of aftershocks.

The checkpoints of the Damascus government forces prevent the entry of basic materials, fuel, medicine and infant formula into the two neighborhoods and al-Shahba district, which heralds a great disaster, and warnings are raised after the infant formula which threatens the lives of a large number of children.

Our agency monitored the suffering of some families who took refuge in tents after the earthquake, and who suffer from the loss of infant formula.

Nujeen Ali, a mother of a one-and-a-half-year-old child, does not find infant formula for her child, and says: "After the earthquake, we took shelter in the tents that were erected by the General Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. We live in a difficult and tragic situation."

And she continued, "Until now, the Fourth Division imposes a siege. Our children are young and need infant formula, but we do not find it in the two neighborhoods, and their policy continues from before the earthquake until now."

Nujeen wished to get infant  formula for her child, "I am, like many mothers, complaining that our children have run out of infant formula.

The mother, Aziza Muhammad, also has a child who is about a year and a half old. She describes the situation of the children in the two neighborhoods with the phrase: "What is their fault?"

And she confirms: "The Fourth Division prevents food from our children."

On January 17 of this year, our agency published news about the depletion of milk in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, after the reserve stock of the health council in Sheikh Maqsoud was consumed.
