AANES's humanistic principles overcome narrow political calculations

Immediately after the earthquake, the active forces in Syria entered into political calculations and did not have the slightest hesitation to invest in a humanitarian crisis that left tens of thousands of victims and many times more injured.

However, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has taken a different approach, not different from the approach it has taken since its establishment in 2014.

The Damascus government and the Turkish occupation state put many obstacles in order to impede the dispatch of aid provided by the Autonomous Administration to the afflicted, but the Autonomous Administration facilitated the delivery of civil aid collected from different regions in NE Syria to the occupied regions in northwestern Syria.

For the Damascus government, the situation was no different. Although this government does not recognize the Autonomous Administration and has repeatedly called it separatist throughout the years, the Autonomous Administration's only concern was to deliver aid to the afflicted in the areas under the government's control.

After 7 days of Damascus' refusal, the efforts of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria succeeded in delivering a convoy of humanitarian aid (60 tanks of oil derivatives to the areas controlled by the Damascus government and 40 to Shahba, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh) that are not intended to achieve political gains.

Yesterday night, the aid convoy allocated by the Autonomous Administration crossed the afflicted Syrian regions against the backdrop of the recent earthquake that hit the country, and headed to the city of Aleppo, after it was prevented from crossing by the Damascus government 7 days ago, as the latter stipulated obtaining 70 percent of the convoy, according to what some sources told ANHA agency earlier.

In Aleppo, ANHA correspondent quoted from the General Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, that the oil derivatives, upon their arrival, will be distributed to the families affected by the earthquake, bakeries, hospitals, medical points, electricity generating engines, and mechanisms for removing rubble.

As for Shahba, ANHA correspondent mentioned that it will be distributed to bakeries, hospitals, and engines and electricity generation.

Just as the Turkish occupation state is still preventing the entry of the Autonomous Administration's aid that was allocated to the affected areas occupied by Turkey, as the aid convoy consisting of 30 tanks of fuel and 20 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid is still waiting to cross into the northwest of the country to help those affected by the earthquake.
