31 displaced families returned from Jabal Shengal camp to their homes

The Ministry's media office announced, in a statement, that "the Iraqi Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faiq Jabro, is supervising the return of 194 displaced persons, 31 families, from the Sinjar Mountain camp to their original areas in the Nineveh Governorate in the Shengal district and the districts of Sinuna and Tal Aziz," according to Roj news agency.

The statement added, "The return of the displaced families came after completing a security check for them in coordination with the security forces and the local government, and bringing them to their areas of original residence with all their belongings."

The statement indicated that "money was paid in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as transportation fees."

On August 3, 2014, Shengal was subjected to large-scale occupation attacks launched by ISIS mercenaries, as the KDP forces and the Iraqi army fled the region. It caused the killing and wounding of thousands of Yazidis and the displacement of thousands of them to other areas in Başûr / Southern Kurdistan and outside Iraq.
