​​​​​​​Damascus govt prevents entry of medicines to Shahba

The Damascus government, through its checkpoints on the road linking the city of Aleppo and Shahba Canton, has completely prevented the entry of medicines, fuel and foodstuffs for more than 4 months, after it used to allow the passage of these materials in return for receiving large sums of money, 5 years ago.

In this context, one of the pharmacists, who refused to reveal his name for security reasons, said: "I am a pharmacist and I have an official license from the syndicate, and I can go to the city of Aleppo, but the government prevents me from transporting medicines to my pharmacy in the Shahba areas, under the pretext that the area is outside control of the Damascus government." and affiliated to the Autonomous Administration areas.

He confirmed that nearly two months ago, the Damascus government intensified its security campaigns against pharmacists, with the aim of transporting any kind of medicine to the Shahba areas, indicating that for nearly a year and a half, it has been forbidden to transfer medicines to licensed pharmacies.

The pharmacist added, "The Damascus govt even prevent me from carrying my personal medicine, under the pretext of supporting terrorist groups in Shahba Canton."

On how to secure medicines for their pharmacies in Shahba, the pharmacist explained that they provide medicines through black market dealers, at exorbitant prices, which increases the prices of medicines tens of times.

The pharmacist also warned of a real humanitarian catastrophe against the displaced people of Afrin over government's blockage.
