Kurdish Red Crescent secures more tents for the people of Sheikh Maqsoud-Ashrafieh

In the morning hours, a truck of humanitarian aid provided by the Kurdish Red Crescent arrived, loaded with blankets and tents to be set up in the empty and safe squares by the Kurdish Red Crescent and civilian volunteers to shelter more families who left their damaged buildings.

A member of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Rashid Shawqi, told ANHA’s agency: "After the earthquake that struck many areas of Syria, in which 6 people lost their lives in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, we assumed the responsibility of sheltering the people."

Shawqi pointed out that the aid was delayed in reaching Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods as a result of the Damascus government's practices. He said: "More than 12 hours are the road between Qamishlo and Aleppo, and this is due to the obstacles that the Damascus government's checkpoints put in front of us."

Shawqi appealed to the concerned authorities and human rights organizations to send aid to the people, since the situation of the two neighborhoods is endangered. He said: "The concerned authorities must take responsibility and help us secure supplies for the people," stressing that they will provide more support.

In his turn, one of the volunteers to set up the tents, Mustafa al-Darwish, said: "The Kurdish Red Crescent gave us a helping hand and brought us tents and blankets. We are helping them install them, so that those who stayed in the street as a result of their homes being damaged in the earthquake that occurred at dawn on Monday would resort to them."
