PYD offers deepest condolences to families of building collapse

This came in a telegram issued by the General Council of the Democratic Union Party, in which it said, "The plight of our people in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood is our plight, and we are sympathy with them in all fields”

PYD criticized of the unfair policy pursued by international humanitarian and relief organizations towards the conditions of the displaced from Afrin in al-Shahba, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and called on the people of North and East Syria to carry out their duties and provide the required support.

At the same time, it called on the Damascus government not to use restrictions on the displaced and civilians for political ends, to stop the suffocating siege imposed by the Fourth Division since August 15, 2022 until now, and to start a Syrian-Syrian national dialogue to get out of dire situation in which the country has been placed as a result of the authoritarian and tyrannical mentality and the attempt to return Syria to Before 2011.

The text of the telegram also stated: “With great regret and sorrow, we received this morning the news of the collapse of a residential building over the heads of its occupants in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, which resulted in 15 people losing their lives and injuring others from the displaced from Afrin, including women and children, while rescue teams are still removing the rubble.” To search for survivors until the moment of writing this statement, amid expectations of an increase in the number of victims. At the same time, the suffocating siege is still imposed on the neighborhood by the regime forces, which has increased the misery of the residents of the neighborhood, who suffer from a shortage of medicines, fuel, and foodstuffs."

PYD indicated that "the collapse of this building seems natural, but at the same time it may be a result of the indiscriminate shelling with gas and mortars that the neighborhood was subjected to in 2015 by the terrorist factions of what was called the "Free Army", which at that time formed an operation room, and began by bombing the neighborhood with the aim of targeting civilians, which led to the collapse and damage to dozens of buildings in the neighborhood.”

It said, "After the indigenous people of Afrin were forcibly displaced as a result of the Turkish occupation of their region to al-Shahba, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, the displaced had to live in houses and buildings, some of which were demolished, and others whose foundations were damaged. It seems that death and siege is chasing the displaced of Afrin wherever they settle in a systematic and planned manner in the dark cellars of the intelligence services of Damascus and Ankara aim to break the will of this people and undermine its ambitions and gains.
