​​​​​​​Afrin IDPs : Damascus Government must lift the siege on al-Shahba

For more than 3 months, the Damascus government has imposed a suffocating and unjust siege on al-Shahba canton, especially on the displaced people of Afrin who live in camps and semi-destroyed houses, in addition to the continuous bombing of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on the canton.

In this regard, the displaced, Nadia Muhammad Ali, from the city of Afrin and a resident of Sardam camp, said, "For five years, we have been resisting and facing all difficulties, and we will continue to resist this unjust siege imposed on us."

She added, "The Damascus government, with its suffocating siege on al-Shahba canton, prevents the entry of food aid and fuel, even medicines, does not allow them to be brought into the canton."

Nadia called on "the government of Damascus to lift this siege, allow the entry of aid, and open roads for the displaced from Afrin to receive treatment in the city of Aleppo."

For his part, the displaced, Hamid Abdo, who also lives in Sardam camp, said, "We suffer many difficulties, as the cold is severe, and the Damascus government prevents the entry of fuel into al-Shahba district and imposes a suffocating siege on it, especially on the camps."

Abdo denounced this blockade, and called on "international, human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene quickly, to lift the blockade, because children are dying from the cold, due to the lack of necessary medicines in addition to fuel."
