Amid the inaction of human rights and human rights organizations, leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison is subjected to the worst severe isolation since his arrest for nearly 24 years, as he has not received any news from him for more than 21 months, in systematic secrecy to the Turkish authorities about his conditions and health.

A delegation from the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) visited Turkish prisons between September 20-29 of last year, but made contradictory statements about their visit.

At first, the committee suggested that she visited the leader Ocalan, but later it claimed that the leader Abdullah Ocalan refused to meet with her, which raised concerns in Kurdistan about the health and security situation of the leader.

Despite all the appeals made to the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture to reveal the status of the leader, they did not reveal any information, which caused increasing concerns.

Commenting on the isolation imposed by the Turkish authorities on the leader Ocalan, lawyers for North and East Syria spoke.

Lawyer and co-chair of the Lawyers Union in Raqqa, Khaled al-Hassan, denounced the isolation imposed on the leader Ocalan, saying: "Since 1999, the leader Ocalan has been arrested and in solitary confinement; human rights violations against him continue to this day."

Abduction is a violation

He added, "The leader, Ocalan, is a political thinker and philosopher, not a criminal. His kidnapping was originally a violation of international laws."

Expressing his concerns about the health status of the leader Ocalan, he said: "The health status of the leader has been ambiguous for more than 21 months, due to the Turkish state's ban on visits to the prison."

Call to reveal the status of the leader

Al-Hassan called on humanitarian and human rights organizations around the world and his human rights counterparts to work with them. To reveal the health status of leader Ocalan, he said that they do not trust the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), "as it is a project of the colonial countries that recruited their agents in order to kidnap leader Ocalan."

The lawyer, Mohammad Baqi Hussein, from the district of Tal Tamr in al-Hasakah canton, said, "One of the most basic rights of the detainees is the periodic visits of their families to them, but the Turkish state, since its kidnapping of the leader Ocalan, has been obstructing the visits and preventing his relatives and clients from meeting him, which is a flagrant violation."

Demand not to remain silent

While the lawyer, Mustafa Sheikh Muslim from the city of Kobani, touched on the isolation of the leader Ocalan from a legal point of view, saying, "If we want to talk about the legality of the isolation applied to the leader Ocalan, we have to go back and talk about the legality of his arrest. He has not committed any crime that requires his arrest, and today leader Ocalan is considered a political prisoner.

He added: "The political prisoner in any country had special laws, being a prisoner of conscience and not a criminal prisoner, and therefore it cannot be said whether the imposed isolation is legal or not, since the arrest of leader Ocalan from the first day is not legal."

At the end of his speech, Sheikh Muslim called on "all jurists around the world not to remain silent about what leader Ocalan is being exposed to in his capacity as the representative of the Kurdish people in the world."
