The statements of officials in the Turkish occupation state continued about their readiness for rapprochement with the Damascus government. In a statement, the Minister of Defense of the Turkish occupation state, Hulusi Akar, expressed last Saturday his readiness to meet his Syrian counterpart.

For its part, the Damascus government has set basic conditions for achieving any rapprochement with the Turkish occupation state, foremost of which is the complete withdrawal of the occupying Turkish forces from the Syrian territories and Turkey's cessation of its support for the mercenary groups.

Despite the great media momentum in the media of the occupied Turkish state about rapprochement with the Damascus government, many media sources quoted sources in the Damascus government refusing rapprochement with the occupying state and granting a "free victory" to the fascist Recep Tayyip Erdogan before the Turkish presidential elections scheduled for June 2023.

In NE, Syria, the majority of political forces, women's and youth movements, and civil society organizations affirmed their rejection of any rapprochement between the Turkish occupation state and the Damascus government, as a measure of this kind might pose risks to the Syrian territorial integrity and the Syrian social fabric. Those forces called on the Damascus government to dialogue with the Autonomous Administration instead of turning towards a state that occupies large areas of the country's geography.

The official spokeswoman for the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Sama Bakdash, said about the nature of the relationship between the Damascus government and the Turkish occupation state, "This is one of the characteristics of the Third World War, at times they contradict each other and at other times they agree with each other, and the relationship of Turkey and Damascus since the era of the Sanjak of Alexandretta until your conspiracy against the leader Ocalan was a normal relationship."

Sama pointed out that "this relationship developed between Syria and Turkey on the political and economic levels, after the signing of the Adana Agreement of 1998, the expulsion of the leader Ocalan, and the handover of the fighters to Turkey."

Regarding the outcome of this relationship after the Syrian crisis in March 2011, Sama Bakdash said, "Turkey accused the Syrian regime of being a terrorist government and that it had to relinquish power, while Syria accused Turkey of being supportive of ISIS and was the reason for the crossing of thousands of ISIS members from Turkish territory to Syria.”

Re-scenario of the international conspiracy

Sama believes that Erdogan's only concern is rapprochement with the regime in an effort to destroy the Autonomous Administration project, and she continued, "By this, he wants to repeat the scenario of the international conspiracy that targeted the Kurdish people. Today, by restoring his relations with the regime, he wants to end its internal problems, especially the issue of Syrian refugees, to gain electoral credit.”

With regard to the Russian role in bringing the government of Damascus closer to the occupying state, Sama explained: "History shows the extent of the enmity of Turkey and Russia. Today, as it is clear, there are economic issues. We have seen Russian statements that Turkey will become a center for transporting gas to all of Europe. Turkey benefits from this matter.”

Sama pointed out that the Russian policy based on re-empowering the Damascus government is still in effect, adding, "This policy was used by Russia with Turkey to hand over many regions through deals that restored the regions to the regime. This policy is still followed, and Russia wants to influence Turkey, and Turkey also needs it." At the international level, to win this issue and Turkey to become a global center for the export of gas to Europe, this will be a gain for Turkey and it is trying to use it in the matter of the elections.

Difficulties impede the implementation of this convergence

Sama believes that it is difficult for this rapprochement to succeed given the conditions set by the Syrian state for Turkey to implement this rapprochement.

Rapprochement with an occupied country will not bring a solution

Sama Bakdash stressed that rapprochement with an occupied country like Turkey will not bring a solution and security in the region, and stressed that the solution is "in the unity of the Syrian territories and the development of ways of dialogue among all Syrians."

Rapprochement will not only harm the Kurds, but will affect all of Syria

In the same context, Joan Siko, secretary of the Democratic Parti of Kurdistan - Syria, saw that any rapprochement with the Turkish occupation state would not only harm the Kurds and the Autonomous Administration areas, but would affect all of Syria.

Siko stressed that the Syrian Democratic Forces have become a difficult figure in the Syrian equation, as today they manage a third of the Syrian area, and any solution, rapprochement, understanding or agreement without returning to these forces will not have any impact on the ground.

This rapprochement will not be easy

Siko pointed out that Russia wants to make a bargain with Turkey in order to keep it away from the Ukrainian war, and it helped Turkey in bombing and bombing sites in NE, Syria.

Siko believes that rapprochement between the occupying power and the Damascus government should be easy.
