Components of al-Shahba protest against Damascus's siege

The protesters gathered at the main roundabout of al-Ahdath district, carrying empty fuel tanks for their heaters, and banners that read" No bargaining with the Turkish government over the Syrian people," and "Your siege on al-Shahba and Sheikh Maqsoud is against the brotherhood of peoples," and "the siege is humanitarian catastrophe against the displaced in the camps and al-Shahba.” in addition to “Your siege will not weaken our resistance.”

The demonstration started from the roundabout towards the Damascus government checkpoint at the entrance to Al-Ahdath district and on the road that connects Al-Shahba district with the city of Aleppo, amid chanting slogans such as " the Syrian people are one people," "Resistance is life," and "No to the siege."

Upon their arrival at the checkpoint, the demonstrators stood and chanted slogans saluting the resistance and calling for the lifting of the siege on al-Shahba district.

Then, a speech was given on behalf of the notables of the Afrin region's clans, delivered by Muhammad Omar, in which he said: "We, the people of the Afrin region of Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen, are living a serious humanitarian crisis. Today, three months of the strict siege has generated a crisis in the region."

He continued, "This suffocating siege imposed on our people who are in semi-destroyed homes and camps led to crises, including a medical crisis, as hospitals and pharmacies lack medicines, service work almost completely stopped, electricity was cut off, and water tanks stopped providing water to the people, and workers Hygiene stopped working because of the blockade.”

Omar called on the Damascus government to lift the siege on them, saying: "We call on the Syrian government to lift the siege on us, because we are part of Syria it must not be dragged behind the plans of the Turkish occupation at the expense of the Syrian people."

The demonstration ended with chanting slogans that saluted the people's resistance and denounced the suffocating government siege imposed on the canton.
