​​​​​​​SDF General Command confirms its determination to protect NE, Syria

The SDF General Command issued a statement in connection with Turkish occupation attacks against North and East Syria. reaffirmed its determination to continue to defend the region and its people.

The statement reads:

"The Turkish State intelligence services planned a blast scenario in Istanbul's Taksim neighbourhood. Turkey's occupation used this as a pretext and its long-standing preparations manifested into an attack on Rojava and North-eastern Syria. From midnight on 19-11-2022 to date (23-11-2022), they carried out 47 warplane strikes, 20 drone attacks and 3,761 artillery bombardments, Opes and others. These enemy attacks targeted the area from Deirk to Qamishlo, Hasakah, Kobani, Deir ez-Zor and Shahba

These attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of 5 fighters as a response in Afrin to date. In areas east of Euphrates, 6 SDF fighters were martyred. 15 civilians were martyred (11 in Deirk, 2 in Tal Tamr, 2 in Makman). In addition, residents' homes, hospitals, schools and service institutions such as gas stations and grain warehouses were damaged. This is the first time that an attack of this kind has taken place and extends to such depth in the region and is aimed at the entire East and North of Syria, with no results. As the SDF's defence system has evolved, and precautionary measures have been taken, as well as the vigilance of our fighters, have contributed to the lack of results of these attacks. We have maintained our positions of resistance with courage, strong will and high motivation. The Turkish occupying state did not endure this failure when it saw that its military attacks were unsuccessful. This time it went to our people and killed civilians in Deirk, as well as in Tal Tamr, and in Deir ez-Zor.

These enemy attacks continue. Through these attacks, the enemy hoped to terrorize our people and pushing them them out their homes. But our people have not surrendered their land, their villages and cities. They went out into the fields with great anger and determination, and expressed their position. the resolve and determination of the people is a source of morale for all SDF fighters. On the other hand, it demonstrates our people's determination, survival of their land, villages and cities and fulfilment of the spirit of sacrifice of SDF fighters. This is the basis for the great victory.

On the other hand, Turkish occupation used and continues to use Russian-controlled airspace and coalition-controlled airspace. On 22 this month, Turkey's occupation also carried out an air offensive against a common base of counter-terrorism and coalition forces, with two of our comrades martyred and 3 wounded. On 23 this month (today), an aerial attack was carried out on the joint base of our troops and Russian forces in Tal Tamr, where one of our comrades was martyred and 3 others wounded.

We therefore call upon these major forces with which we are working to clarify their true position. Our people also want to know their true position. Their current positions do not seem compatible with the framework of friendship and cooperation.
