Thousands mourn martyrs of the Derik massacre

The mourners carried the coffins of the martyrs from Derik National Hospital and headed in a large procession towards the shrine of the martyr Khabat Derik to hold ceremonies.

The martyrs are: Essam Abdullah, ANHA agency correspondent, Hussein Ali, Jijek Harouni, Hilal Qassem, Hadiya Abdullah, Obaid Khaled, Mahmoud Ali, Fayez Abdullah, Nuri Jiftji, Hussein Khaltou, Mazen Ossi.

Upon the mourners' arrival at the shrine, they carried the coffins of the martyrs on their shoulders and led them towards the platform of the shrine, They chanted slogans saluting the martyrs, glorifying their sacrifices, and Derik's resistance.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs.

The member of the Council of Martyrs' Families, Joan Ali, offered condolences to the families of the martyrs and asked for patience and solace, stressing the continuation of the path of the martyrs and the realization of their hopes and aspirations for freedom.

For her part, Jihan Hussein, the member of the Kongra Star Coordination Committee, addressed the people of al-Jazira region, said: "Your presence here refutes Erdogan's allegations, which denies the existence of the Kurds. It proves that the Kurds exist."

She also praised the sacrifices of the people of Derik, and said: "During the history of the Rojava revolution, Derik was known for the its struggle and resistance."

Jihan called on the people to escalate the struggle and resistance, saying: "In order not to live under the yoke of slavery, we must struggle and resist with all our might."

In turn, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Jazira region, Talaat Younes, said  that Erdogan uses gases and chemical weapons to exterminate our people.

He affirmed that "these dreams have begun to crumble in the face of the struggle and resistance of our people."

At the same time, he criticized the silence of international forces by saying "they give weapons to the bloodsuckers of our people."

At the end of his speech, Talaat Younes affirmed their commitment and readiness for dialogue with all parties to find a solution for Syria and expel the occupation.

After that, documents of the 11 martyrs read and handed over to their families.
