TEV DEM salutes the International Day of Solidarity with Kobani Resistance

Today, Democratic Society Movement issued a statement coinciding with the eighth anniversary of International Day of Solidarity with Kobani Resistance.

The statement reads:

"On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of International Day of Solidarity with Kobani Resistance, we salute all those who contributed to the achievement and support of this people resistance in Kobani, and we also recall all the martyrs of the Kobani Resistance, especially the internationalist martyrs who gave their lives for this great historical resistance.

The first of November 2014 marked the victory of a new phase that made hopes for building trust and solidarity between the cultures of local and global peoples, united who call for freedom and united efforts to protect the historical legacy of the resistance of People's Protection Units and Women' Protection Units, who became a global symbol, because they fought the international terrorism backed by Turkish fascism directly, with great resistance in order to protect societal and moral values, and they achieved the greatest victory.

This resistance imposed its respect by possessing the audacity, courage, self-confidence, free will, and the active participation of the struggling and combative women, who inflicted heavy field and intellectual losses on terrorism, and It was the beginning of the collapse of so-called caliphate state and the beginning of the real victory for Kobane resistance, this resistance has become a means to escalate the pace of solidarity and unify the ranks of societies in order to protect the resistance and the gains that have been achieved thanks to the great sacrifices.

We in TEV-DEM; We salutes the International Day of Solidarity with People's Resistance against injustice and denial, against the tyrant occupiers, and we are confident that the spirit of loyalty and solidarity of peoples with the resistance will be renewed this year more, to end the Turkish occupation that supports terrorism with all its capabilities, as Turkey today threatens the will of the peoples that protect human values, social cultures, and peoples calling for freedom and social justice, through internationally prohibited weapons and terrorism, and in front of the international community.

Therefore, we appeal to all human rights, civic and feminist organizations, all political and patriotic forces, to transform the legacy of the first of November into a philosophy and culture among the peoples of solidarity to protect the gains, achievements and values of this resistance, which has become a hope for the will of societies."
