DFR hands over ISIS women and children to official Australian delegation

The Department of Foreign Relations of North and East Syria handed over 4 Australian women and 13 children to an Australian delegation, during a visit to the city of Qamishlo.

Today, the official website of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria published news, in which it referred to a visit by an official Australian delegation headed by the Australian Special Envoy for Syria Mark Annis Brown, yesterday, Thursday, to the department's headquarters in Qamishlo.

According to the news, the delegation was received by the co-chairs of the Department of Foreign Relations, Fanar Al-Kait and Rubel Baho, and members of the administrative board, Khaled Ibrahim and Gulistan Ali.

The two sides exchanged views on the general situation in Syria, and in north and east Syria in particular, and the challenges facing the Autonomous Administration, political, economic, humanitarian and security.

"The Turkish attacks on northern and eastern Syria will destabilize the region and lead to large waves of migration and displacement. It is also an opportunity for ISIS to reorganize," said Fener al-Kait.

He stressed that the Autonomous Administration will continue to cooperate with Australia and with all countries in the Autonomous Administration areas.

For his part, an Australian envoy said: The Australian government remains concerned about the Syrian crisis and urges all parties to find a political solution based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254.

He added: We thank the Autonomous Administration's cooperation in the process of deporting a number of Australian children and women. The Australian government also recognizes the great sacrifices of the SDF in the face of ISIS terrorism. This is a matter of recognition and appreciation from the Australian government.

He added, "Australia has provided humanitarian support to the Syrian people, including the people of NE Syria, through humanitarian relief programmes."

The news indicated at the end that the meeting concluded with the delivery of 4 women and 13 Australian children from the families of ISIS mercenaries, according to an official handover document between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the State of Australia.
