Younes: Targeting AANES’s institutions is new stage in war of extermination

In their speech, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Jazira region, Talaat Younes, commented on the the Turkish occupation army’s October 24th attacks against the regions of NE Syria and their civil institutions in the city of Qamishlo, which led to killing civilians. In a statement, The AANES announced the martyrdom of two citizens resulting from the Turkish occupation state’s air attack on Qamishlo. It demanded international powers clarify their position on the unjustified Turkish war against the Syrians and the region. Younes considered this attack a continuation of the annihilatory policies against the peoples of the region and their democratic project, saying: “The Turkish state uses all its capabilities in order to create chaos in the region and occupy NE Syria and Syria in general.”

A new phase of the war

He stressed that the Turkish state, with the participation of other countries, uses all its political, diplomatic and military force to impose these attacks and policies against the security of the region and its democratic project. After the July 19th tripartite summit in Tehran that brought together the presidents of Turkey, Russia, and Iran, and the Sochi meeting on August 5 between the Turkish and Russian presidents, the Turkish occupation’s attacks increased along the border line between Rojava and Bakur (Northern Kurdistan). Younis considered these attacks to be a new stage of occupation policy and war crimes against the region, at a time when the international community, human rights institutions, “guarantor” forces and the Global Coalition are committed to these policies which contradict all international laws and agreements.

Reviving ISIS

Younes explained that international silence poses a danger to the security of the whole world, especially since these attacks open the way for ISIS mercenaries who are trying to revive themselves again. He stressed the need for the international community to express a position on the seriousness of the attacks that support the revival of ISIS. He demanded they assume their responsibilities towards the implementation of human rights charters and laws.

The message of the Autonomous Administration to the people of the region

Talaat Younes drew attention to the resistance shown by the people of the region against the attacks of the Turkish occupation, and said: "The Autonomous Administration continues its struggle against the policies of extermination and the Turkish attacks. With each attack, they send their message to the international community, human rights organizations, the Global Coalition and the “guarantor” forces to stop the massacres. They demand a no-fly zone in northern and eastern Syria to prevent the air attacks of the Turkish state, but so far they have not seen any positive attitude towards this. As a result of this silence, the Turkish state increases attacks against the region. At the conclusion of his speech, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Jazira region, Talaat Younis, addressed the citizens, saying: "We must increase the pace of our resistance against the policies of genocide and occupation. Let us prevent the Turkish state and its partner forces from achieving any goals in breaking the will of our people and thwarting our democratic project.” A
