TEV-DEM criticizes the international silence on Turkey's use of chemical weapons

Since last April 17, the Turkish occupation state has launched brutal attacks on legitimate defense areas, using chemical weapons and internationally banned bombs.

Yesterday, the leadership of People's Defense Center published the record of 17 male and female fighters from the Guerilla Forces; They were martyred during the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation state with chemical weapons, and indicated the increase in chemical attacks due to the silence and international support for these attacks.

Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) issued a written statement to the public, in which it condemned the chemical attacks of the Turkish occupation and the international silence about them.

During its statement, the movement stressed that this is not the first time that the occupation uses chemical weapons, "but rather the Turkish fascist used them in many of our areas, such as occupied Afrin and Serêkaniyê and the legitimate defense areas."

At the beginning of the statement, that reads: "At a time when the international community and United Nations institutions are fighting the use of nuclear and chemical weapons and preventing their spread for fear of using them against humanity, and no country may dare to use them against another country in order to preserve global security and stability, but what appears that the international community, United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons against the armament and proliferation of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons are not serious and deviate from their moral and legal principles towards preventing the use of these dangerous weapons from which neither humans nor nature are spared and which completely destroy all living beings.

The statement continued, "There may be countries that have facilities and companies to manufacture these globally prohibited weapons and are subject to legal accountability and international sanctions, but the most countries that dare to use them globally are Turkish occupation state and have used it hundreds of times. And there is evidence, videos, and reliable evidence that has been published through many media outlets in front of the eyes of the international community and all institutions and organizations that prohibit the use of these internationally banned weapons, but the silence of the concerned parties allows the Turkish occupation state to use and test these weapons against guerrillas who defend the dignity and values ​​of humanity, which recently caused the martyrdom of 17 fighters.
