​​​​​​​Sulaymaniyah Asayish obstructs a statement by lawyers about leader Ocalan

On September 14, 385 lawyers from around the world submitted a request to the Turkish Ministry of Justice to visit leader Abdullah Ocalan and other prisoners in Imrali Prison, and the lawyers had made this request at a press conference in the Belgian capital, Brussels, and lawyers from 22 countries assessed the situation in Imrali as “special and discriminatory isolation against Abdullah Ocalan.”

In Syria, 691 lawyers demanded a direct meeting with leader Ocalan during a letter they sent to the Turkish Ministry of Justice, and expressed their solidarity with the lawyers in Turkey who are struggling against isolation and violations against the leader in Imrali prison, and their letter was read today in the city of Qamishlo.

A campaign was launched in Başûr Kurdistan for the goal itself. Member of the Preparatory Committee for the lawyers’ campaign announced that a decision was taken today, to give a press statement to the Sulaymaniyah Court, but the security did not allow this.

Member of the Preparatory Committee for the Lawyers Campaign, Shorsh Khader, told Roj News, "The Asayish told us that it is not permissible in any way to make this statement, and as a pretext for this, they say that you did not obtain permission in this regard, and we also told them that this is not a demonstration." Or a different activity, but if necessary, we can also get the permission, but they told us, even if you have permission, we will not allow you to make the statement, and the Asayish forces gathered in front of the court even before we went to the place.”

At the end of his speech, Shorsh Khader added, "More than 44 lawyers from different regions of Southern Kurdistan signed the campaign, and we will issue a press release about the results of the campaign elsewhere in the future."
