​​​​​​​Barsom: Damascus Government must take into consideration Syrians’ demands

This came in a special meeting held by ANHA’s agency with the co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, Senhreib Barsom, about the Turkish occupying state's attempts to converge with the Damascus Government and to conclude new agreements at the expense of the Syrian people who have suffered the crimes of the Turkish occupying army for 11 years.

At the outset, he drew attention to the new schemes of the Turkish occupying state against North and East Syria, saying: "After the Turkish project to occupy new Syrian territory, namely the Syrian north, has met with international objection, Turkey will not refrain from exercising various methods in order to exert pressure and its war against the Autonomous Administration    of North and East  Syria in order to undermine this project and undermine the will of the peoples of the region to manage themselves."

"This is the real goal of Turkey, not as it invokes it to protect its national security, it is not threatened by the AANES or the SDF, but by those who used armed factions and ISIS in addition to their military directly in their war against the SDF and Democratic Autonomous Administration DAA."

Adopt new methods

Senhreib Barsom noted the new methods used by the Turkish occupying state in its attacks on North and East Syria and explained: "After its military operations ceased and its direct occupation of the region, it began to adopt a method of bombing through UAVs against the peoples of the region and my leaders and SDF positions."

Turkey "aims by adopting these methods to make the region at war and instability, which also enhances the chances of ISIS reorganizing itself".

Turkey ready to cede opposition in exchange for pressure on AANES

On attempts to bring the Turkish occupying state closer to the Damascus Government, Senhreib Barsom explained "Turkey will try by various means to strike the AANES’ project, which makes it pursue a path towards concluding an agreement with the Syrian regime so that the two security and military systems can join in striking the AANES’ project. Turkey is ready for such alliances with the Syrian regime because it has several interests, including the return of displaced persons with a view to gaining and increasing its popularity and preparing for next year's elections." "Erdogan is thinking about papers that he can use and utilize and strengthen his position in his elections."

"Among them is this relationship with the regime, which will be at the expense of the blood of thousands of Syrians and the Syrian opposition, which has linked itself to Turkey. The latter is now ready to cede them in exchange for certain interests in putting more pressure on AANES, the attempt of these two regimes to bring down and eradication this project and to strike at the will of the peoples of the region, including Kurds, Arabs and Syriac, who participated in the administration and protection of their regions, they provided thousands of martyrs to reach a stage where they could apply their will, rights and management of the region. "

Relations that pave the way for new wars on Syrian soil

Referring to the position of the Government of Damascus on Syrian territory by the Turkish occupying state, Senhreib Barsom reiterated "The Government of Damascus and Turkey are in agreement on several points, but they differ on many others, The relationship between States is governed by interests, and each part will attempt to gain more than the other, In this relationship there is also Russia which considers the intermediary between them So Russia will also seek to ensure its interests and the functioning of its project as it wants and not as the other wants, Therefore, before this complex situation of regional and international overlap, everything will be expected. "

Barsom demanding Russia and America as "states concerned with Syria and have an influential role in this regard, preventing any consensus between these regimes that will bring harm to the Syrian peoples in all its components and will complicate the political solution and the Syrian crisis further and pave the way for new wars in Syria."

He appealed for the need to operationalize a peaceful political solution to the satisfaction of all Syrian parties and to end the war, terrorism and Turkish occupation of Syrian areas. That was the least that the "Syrian regime" could demand before concluding any agreements with Turkey in ending the Turkish occupation of Syrian territory.

"The Syrian regime will cooperate with external interests against the Syrian people, especially the Turkish regime, which seeks to divide the region through demographic change and leaves the region through its various policies within the occupied territories."

Senhraib Barsom considers that the Government of Damascus is required to "compromise the demands of the Syrian people on the Syrian Democratic Forces instead of compromising regional forces and achieving objectives against the Syrian people", drawing attention to the position of AANES by stating: " AANES always declares its readiness for dialogue with the Syrian regime, but this does not mean that the area is handed over to the Syrian regime or that it imposes its method, which is through reconciliation rejected by AANES."

Stressing the need for "serious dialogue" in particular from the Syrian regime and to make the necessary concessions, whether by AANES or also by the concessions required in the Geneva negotiations, the application of resolution 2,254 and the pursuit of a new constitution for Syria that meets the aspirations of all Syrians, this is what is required of the Syrian regime, not steps and consensus with States hostile to Syria in order to ensure its survival and continuation in power.”
